Joel Alexander Herman

Born in Columbia on January 13, 1956 to John and Sophia (Bowlus) Herman, he was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Hickman High School and was a longtime “cable guy” with various telecommunications companies. Joel was also a member of the Elks Lodge #594 for many years and cherished the camaraderie among the group. He enjoyed camping, grilling and cheering on MU sports, but most of all, he was a loving and involved dad to Peri and Dylan.

Joel and Patricia (Young) Herman were joined in marriage on July 26, 2013 in the backyard of Patty’s childhood home. They spent many happy years together with lots of laughter.

In addition to his wife and children, Joel is survived by sisters Mary Kay Head, Jean Herman and Jane Wilson; a granddaughter, Abi; 13 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Paul, Carl and John Herman.

A celebration of life will take place on August 22 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at J.W. Ficklin Shelter at Cosmo Bethel Park. Please come with your hugs and love and stories.
