

John David Grise, 50, of Columbia, Missouri departed from this life and into the glorious presence of Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 3, 2015 after a lengthy illness. John was born in Nashville, Tennessee. His family moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he spent most of his years. He attended Presbyterian Day School and Briarcrest Christian School, where he was elected president of his senior class. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history at the University of Memphis in 1992. John greatly enjoyed medieval studies and was a talented student of art. John faced the health challenges of his life with abiding courage and strength. His love, encouraging words, and wonderful sense of humor were continually cherished by family and friends. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and a dedicated student of God’s Word. John is survived by his wife, Laura Ann Grise; his parents, Dr. Jerry and Betty Grise; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Michele Grise; and many nieces and nephews. Our family mourns the loss of this wonderful gift from God, while at the same time celebrating his influential life. Visitation will be Thursday, January 8 at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, Missouri from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. A service of celebration will be Friday at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbia, Missouri where John was a dedicated member. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Ligonier Ministries or Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbia, Missouri.
