Kay L. Edwards, age 76, of Columbia, MO beloved wife and mother, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Columbia, succumbing to the effects of cancer. Kay was born on February 13, 1938 in Ponca City, OK: the daughter of Frances (Schoonover) and Perry Endicott. Kay’s grandmother put her birth in the paper and called her Kay (named after the county she was born in). Kay’s mother read it in the paper and decided to not change it. Kay grew up in Newkirk, OK. She loved to dance and taught it while growing up. She graduated high school in Charleston, SC where she was living with her sister. Jerry and Kay met through mutual friends at the student union while attending Oklahoma State University. Kay graduated with a double major in sociology and psychology. She was inducted into the national honor society with a 3.7 grade point average. Kay and Jerry married on January 23, 1961 in Stillwater OK on the OSU campus at Bennett Memorial Chapel. Kay went on to pursue her Master’s Degree in Sanitary Science and Public Health Administration; however, Jerry was transferred before she completed it. After Jerry’s graduation they moved to McAlester, OK and had two children Pam and Paul. Kay devoted her life to her family and loved them with all her heart, without reservation. In 1970 the family moved to Columbia, MO following Jerry’s job. Kay loved movies, reading and spending time with family. She made friends easily, in about any circumstance. Kay cared very deeply for her family and friends. It was very important for her to always be there for them. Kay is survived by her husband, Jerry, of their home; daughter, Pam (Dan) Budd; son, Paul Edwards; sister, Jacklyn Jordan and numerous nephews.
