Keith was born in Columbia, Missouri on August 31, 1957, to Kenneth and Billie Forbis. He was raised in Columbia with his three siblings. There, he taught himself the art of gold and silversmithing by checking out library books and tinkering in his garage.
He later graduated from Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, and went on to become a jeweler in Kansas City, Missouri where he devoted himself to his lifelong passion for creativity. A jeweler by trade and an artist at heart, Keith owned and operated his own jewelry business and was widely respected for his exceptional talent as a goldsmith. His creativity extended far beyond jewelry, as he had a rare gift for making anything he touched more beautiful.
A few of Keith’s simple pleasures throughout his life included auctions, antiques, lake days, motorcycle rides, NASCAR, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved the thrill of a rare find, the excitement of race day, and enjoying a good time in good company. These things brought him joy and are part of how he will be remembered.
A loving father, son, and brother; Keith was loyal and charismatic. He was well regarded by his friends and colleagues, admired not only for his skill and craftsmanship but also for his sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor. His distinctive, unforgettable laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Billie Forbis; his daughter, Kristin (Trevor) Pockrus; his brothers, Dale Forbis and Bryan Forbis, and his sister, Susan (Bill) Woods; his cherished grandchildren, Maddox, Hendrix, and Quinn; his nieces and nephew, Lindsey, Jenna, Ben, Julia, Emily, Ashley, Lisa Jo, and Aubrie; his extended family members, and many dear friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Forbis.
