Lillian was a devoted educator and accomplished artist whose life bridged cultures through art and design. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and began her career as a senior publication designer at Cornell University.
Her passion for teaching reached far beyond borders, shaping and inspiring generations of students both locally and around the world. From founding an art and design college in Inner Mongolia to serving as a professor at Stephens College and the University of Missouri, she shared her love of art, along with her devotion in women’s fashion, and left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Lillian’s creativity extended beyond the classroom into her kitchen, where she expressed her artistry through cooking. She brought people together by creating Asian inspired dishes using everyday American ingredients. For Lillian, each meal was an act of love, a reflection of her creativity, and a way to connect with those around her.
In later years, this passion led to a profound artistic evolution, as she began translating her culinary creations into visual form, an exploration that came to life in her most recent exhibition, Visible Invisible Beyond, reflecting her lifelong pursuit of art, creativity, culture, and connection.
After retiring, she continued to nurture her passion for art by founding the Love of Art Studio, where she shared her deep appreciation for culture with young children through Chinese watercolor painting and calligraphy.
She will be remembered for her grace, strength, and unwavering devotion to art in all its forms, as well as to her family, friends, and students. Her legacy lives on not only in the many lives she touched, but also in the creativity, beauty, and inspiration she brought into the world.
Lillian is survived by her loving family.
