

Marvin Koop, son of Elmer and Pauline Koop, was born on October 26, 1942, in Lombard, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. On April 10, 1982, he married Charlene Scherer. He has two stepdaughters, Dana (Melvin) Phillips and Tammy Stewart, two grandchildren, Courtney (Deshane) Dreyer and Kylie Phillips and 6 great grandchildren, Kaylin, James, Cameron, Daxton, Dazie and Hazel Griffin. His wife Charlene and sister Carolyn Palmer also survive. His career spanned fifty years in retail and manufacturing. He loved gardening for the kids and growing roses for his wife’s enjoyment.
After retiring, he fully committed to his role as Papa and husband. He enjoyed attending school functions for his great grandchildren, gardening and other household chores. In the afternoons, you could usually find him sleeping in his chair in his room at his house. He enjoyed watching sports and was a huge fan of the Cubs and the Cardinals along with the Bears.
He was a very religious man, he volunteered and was very active in his church, Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia, MO.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 26, from 5-7pm at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Funeral Service will be 10am, Friday, February 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church 2201 West Rollins Road Columbia, MO. Burial will follow at 2pm in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Jacksonville, MO.
