Mary Margaret Williams

Mary Margaret Williams, 74, of Columbia, passed away November 18, 2023, at University of Missouri Hospital. Mary was born on January 24, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, the second daughter of Leo and Catherine Kieffer.

Mary graduated from Xavier High School in 1967. She married James Williams on June 28, 1969, in St. Louis, MO.

Mary worked at Rock Bridge Elementary, Columbia, as the playground and lunchroom supervisor during the 1980s and early 1990s. After a move to Wisconsin in 1991, Mary worked at Figi’s until the family moved back to Missouri. Mary retired from Square D in Columbia.

Mary loved to collect Santas of all shapes and sizes and displayed them in her Santa room, which had started to overflow into the other rooms of the house. Mary had a passion for reading and would always have a book or her kindle in her purse or hand wherever she went. Later in life, Mary and Jim would travel to far-away places with trips either through a cruise or group tour.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Catherine Kieffer; two sisters, Patricia Bradley and Joyce Wright.

Here to cherish Mary’s memory are her loving husband, James Williams, children Jennifer Burr and Timothy Williams, their spouses Walter Burr and Raellen Williams. Along with four grandchildren, Erin Connell and her husband Gabe, Katie Williams and her fiancé Colin Shepherd, Tanner Williams and Rachael Burr, and one great-granddaughter, Amber Gamma, and sister Kathy Dills, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life gathering for Mary will be held 12:30 PM. January 7, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Home/Columbia with a service to follow at 2pm.
