

He was born May 5, 1930, in New Folden, Minnesota to the late Edward and Florence (Peltola) Anderson.
On September 30, 1962, he married Ilene Presler in Alfred, North Dakota, and she preceded him in death.
Maynard earned his B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from North Dakota State University in 1961. He then went on to receive his M.A. in Dairy Science and Technology from the University of Minnesota in 1968. Maynard then pursued his PhD in Food Engineering from the University of Missouri in 1974.
Not only a scholar, Maynard was a published author as well, penning over 120 professional articles. He worked at the University of Missouri for over 3 decades in a collaborative effort with the USDA as a professor and head of the research lab. Prior to his work with the USDA, he also was employed at Green Giant in Minnesota for several years.
Maynard proudly served his country in the United States Army, working in the military police and mule pack division.
For over 30 years, Maynard remained active in Campus Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children: Corrine McCune (husband, Gordon) of Hallsville, Missouri, Rodney Anderson (wife, Stephanie) of Centralia, Missouri, and Brian Anderson, of Columbia; grandchildren: Kim Athey, Jamie Thompson, Ryan Anderson, Ariel Flood (husband, Dustin), Kaylee McCune, Braeden Anderson, Avary Anderson, and five great grandchildren; and cousins: Bette Peltola and Gay Woods.
In addition to his loving wife, Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, A. Otto Anderson.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, with the memorial service at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Campus Lutheran Church.
