Robert Glen Showers

Robert Showers, 93, of Overland Park, formerly of Columbia, MO passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, in Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be Monday, April 27 from 12pm-1:30pm at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO 65202. Funeral Service will begin at 1:30pm followed by the Committal Service and Military Honors in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Robert was born November 1, 1932, in Shenandoah, IA to Myron and Alice Mae Springer Showers. The family later moved to Columbia where Robert would grow up. He was a 1950 graduate of Hickman High School and soon after earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from MIZZOU. He served in the US Marines for ten months, before the unexpected death of his mother released him from service. On June 12, 1954, he married Norma Fay Wade in Columbia. They were married 72 years before she passed just forty days before him. Robert had a long successful career in insurance sales; working with Barnes Insurance Group and All State Insurance before retiring after over 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching old Westerns on tv. Robert’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Perry) Plummer and Carol (Bob) White, both of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Paul Showers, and Megan and Melissa White; great-grandchildren, Ella, Caden, and Ava Showers; many nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Fay; a brother, Richard Showers, and his parents.
