

Ruby Claudine Knaus of Lenoir Woods, Columbia, Mo., passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015. Claudine was born Oct. 24, 1920, to Claud and Caroline Hart of rural Urich, Mo. She was raised near Urich. She married Wilbur E. Knaus of Clinton, Mo., on June 5, 1943, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1997. They spent much of their married life in Clinton, Mo., but also resided in Grove, Okla., and Vandalia, Mo. Wilbur and Claudine moved to Columbia in 1995 to be closer to their children. Claudine made wonderful lasting friendships wherever she lived. Claudine loved to sew for her daughters, garden (her family loved MaMa’s corn), grow beautiful roses and share them with others at Lenoir, and play bridge. She enjoyed game nights at Lenoir. Most of all she loved being with her family as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She will be missed by her family: son Dale Knaus (Bev), Louisiana, Mo.; daughters Nancy Griggs (Dave) and Roma Lay (Chuck), Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren Emily Finkbiner (Stephen), Lees Summit, Mo., and Charlie Lay (Lauren), Columbia, Mo.; sister Roberta Jenkins (Lyle), Stockton, Mo.; and brothers and sisters-in-law John and Barbara Knaus, Sedalia, Mo., and Don and Kathleen Knaus, Wheaton, Ill.
A memorial service will be held at Epple Chapel at Lenoir Woods, Columbia, Mo., Tuesday Oct. 27, at 9:30 a.m., followed by interment service at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Mo., at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church of Clinton, 220 E. Franklin St., Clinton, MO 64753.
