Sharon was born on September 9, 1947 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Lloyd and Frances Grimes. She was a lifelong Chiefs fan. Sharon became a flight attendant for United Airlines, where she worked for 34 years, and moved to San Francisco, CA. It was there she met the love of her life, Dale, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and happy memories with their two sons, Brett and Brian.
Upon retirement nearly 25 years ago, Sharon and Dale followed their sons to Columbia where they both attended the University of Missouri. Sharon loved all animals, especially dogs and horses, of which she lovingly raised both. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, and crafting. She was very involved in events at The Club at Old Hawthorne, where she met some of her closest friends.
When the Missouri winters got too cold, Sharon and Dale spent two months every year in Hawaii, her happy place. She was thrilled when both her sons got married, and she loved her daughters-in-law like her own. But Sharon’s greatest joy in life came when she became a Grammie. She loved watching her three grandchildren grow up, and nothing made her happier than spoiling those kids with toys and hugs and all the love in the world.
Sharon will be remembered for her all-encompassing love for her family, her loving personality, and for always offering a hand to all who needed it.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Dale of 49 years, of Columbia; her sons, Brett Rose (Caroline) of Atlanta, GA, and Brian Rose (Sharree) of Columbia; grandchildren, Emma, Xander, and Juliet; her brothers, Wayne Grimes, of Kansas City, and Bruce (Kathy) Grimes of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Neva and Donna, who were angels on earth in their remarkable care for Sharon in her final months.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. 1217 Business Loop 70 W, Columbia, MO 65202.
