

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 1:30 PM – 4:00PM at Memorial Baptist Church, 1634 Paris Rd, Columbia, MO. The memorial service will follow immediately at 4:00PM, after the visitation at the church. In honor of and per Steve’s personal request, please do not wear a neck tie to the visitation or service.
Steve was born on July 15, 1948 in California, MO the son of Floyd and Norma Jean (Birdsong) Wise who preceded him in death. He was married on August 21, 1976 in East Bend, NC to Cathy Williams who survives of the home. He graduated from California High School and then from the University of Missouri. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, serving for 12 years, completing his service as a Captain. He owned and operated the real estate appraisal firm of Cannon Blaylock & Wise after jointly owning the business with his longtime friend and partner Jack Blaylock.
His life passions were his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved writing, words and thinking up stories. He lived and wrote his stories, many of which were published, on a wooded farm north of Columbia, Missouri with his wife Cathy. He very much enjoyed baseball, shooting, golf, the outdoors and teaching his grandchildren how to play ball and attending their games and activities.
Other survivors include: one son, Travis Wise (Lyndsay) of Columbia, MO and their children, Owen Wise, Alex Wise and Annie Wise; one daughter Stacee Wise Clawson (Greg) and their children, Adlen Baker, William Baker and Lauren Clawson; two brothers, Rick Wise of Columbia, MO and Brad Wise (Brenda) of Blue Springs, MO. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Junior and Nelda Williams.
