After graduating from Hickman High School, she married the love of her life, Charles R. Moreau, on December 16, 1950 in Columbia. Bernice was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. She enjoyed a long career in banking, and was a humble, kind, and loving soul who always put family first. In her retirement, Bernice loved caring for her grandchildren. She was an exceptional cook and always looked forward to entertaining family and friends.
Bernice is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Caldwell and Marcia Moreau, both of Columbia; son, Alan Moreau of Ashland; two grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Caldwell of Oregon, WI, and Michael Moreau of Columbia; great-granddaughter, Riley Caldwell, of Oregon, WI; as well as a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Matthew Moreau; sister, Marilyn Sue (Burks) Lancaster; and brother, Emmett Dysart "Sonny" Burks.
A visitation for Bernice will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Friday, November 25, 2022 with services following at 11:00 am, both at Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bernice's memory may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery, c/o John W. Burks, Harrisburg, MO.
