Elizabeth Ann Askew passed from this life into God’s presence on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 75. She was born in Columbia, Mississippi to Don and Mary Askew. Ann lived and worked in Gulfport, Mississippi for 20 years. After retiring in 2009, she returned to her beloved family in Columbia where she built and took great pride in her country cabin. Ann had two “green thumbs” and was an avid gardener. Her yard produced an abundance of flowers, vegetables, and fruits that she enjoyed sharing with others. She was also an excellent cook who took great pride in preparing meals from the foods harvested from her gardens. Ann was a woman of deep faith who put God and family at the center of her life. She served her Lord and her community through her membership with Baxterville Baptist Church. Ann will be remembered as the sweetest, kindest, and most giving person anyone could meet.
She was preceded in death by her father, Don Askew. Ann is survived by her companion, Jerry Beach; two daughters, Angela Williams and Andrea Williams Deyoe; her mother, Mary Askew; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donnie and Kay Askew and Cary and Connie Askew; two grandchildren, Alyssa Kaiten Arrington and Christopher Sanford; and four great-grandchildren, Kensy Sanford, Veda Arrington, Ramzey Arrington, and Channing Arrington.
There will be a funeral service for Ann at Baxterville Baptist Church on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 2:00pm. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00pm until service time. She will be laid to rest in the Askew Family Cemetery.
