Ellis Mickel “Mike” Hibley, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the age of 63. He was born in Marion County to Jack and Betty Hibley where he has remained a lifelong resident. Mike was an electrician and worked for many years with MDR Construction Inc. He was laid back and easy going and loved playing guitar and singing. He had a great sense of humor and was an encourager to everyone. Mike knew just the right way to lift your spirits when you were down. Even when he was very sick, you felt so uplifted just being in his presence. Mike will be remembered for the deep love that he had for his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, India Parkman; and a sister-in-law, Cookie Hibley. Mike is survived by his wife, Tonya Hibley; a daughter, Tasha Thompson (Joe); two sons, Mikey Hibley (LeAnna) and Todd Parkman; two sisters, Shirley Hibley Edwards (Ralph) and Linda Hibley Ledet (Danny); a brother, Travis Hibley; eight grandchildren, Little Mike Hibley, Little Jack Hibley, Hunter Smith, Gunner Smith, Huntleigh Burt (Tyler), Braxton Powell, Haygon Parkman, and Lincoln Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be visitation for Mike at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Jimmy Johnson, will be in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 2:30pm. Mike will be laid to rest in Lighthouse Jesus Name Apostolic Church Cemetery assisted by T.J. Hibley, James Smith, Matthew Stewart, Little Dale Ledet, Bo Johnson, Chris Royston, and J.T. Hibley.
