Glennis T. Raynes, of Carson, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born in Jefferson Davis County to Cornelius and Roberta Raynes where he has remained a lifelong resident. Glennis found pleasure in the simple things in life and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and buffets where he was well known in numerous establishments around the area. In his later years, traveling with his friend, Grace Arnold, consumed the majority of his time and he could sit for hours telling stories about his experiences and adventures with Grace. Glennis had a great sense of humor and will be remembered for the love he had for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, known to all as Big Momma and Big Daddy; four sisters, Sylvia Prine, Bernice May, Dorothy May, and Drue Turnage; three brothers, Tedo Raynes, F.T. Raynes, and Donald Ray Raynes; and a daughter, Deidre Raynes. Glennis is survived by two daughters, Joy Raynes Houston (Reed) and Kimberly Raynes (Bobby); two sons Terry Raynes (Dawn) and Kevin Raynes (Laura); one sister, Donnis DeKraai; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a funeral service to celebrate the life of Glennis at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12:00pm. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until service time. The funeral will be officiated by Reverend Reed Houston and he will be laid to rest in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.
