Jean Carolyn Williamson, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born in Marion County to Ray and Eliza Fortenberry where she has remained a lifelong residence. After graduating from high school, Jean went to nursing school and worked as a nurse with Marion General Hospital until she retired in 1974. She was a woman of faith and served her Lord and her community through her membership with Chapel of the Cross in Columbia. Jean was a prolific reader who enjoyed her leisure time reading. She was devoted to her family and Jean will be remembered for the depth of love and pride that she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Doyle Williamson and a sister, June Lee. Jean is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Shafer (Ed) and Cathy Duncan; a sister, Shirley Haddox; four grandchildren, Sherry Milner (Marvin), Kristen Blackwell (Steven), Jay Duncan (Tammy), and Laurie Duncan (Joe Matthews); seven great-grandchildren, Cade Duncan, Will Milner, Matthew Blackwell (Mckenzie Lust), Jayden Duncan (Cora Robinson), Carli Duncan, Haylee Blackwell, Laleigh Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Reed Houston, will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 2:00pm. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00pm until service time. Jean will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery assisted by Jay Duncan, Cade Duncan, Jayden Duncan, Steven Blackwell, Donnie Williamson, and Joe Matthews serving as pallbearers. Will Milner and Matthew Blackwell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
