On Sunday, August 16, 2020, Jimmy Marshall Byrd was found to have passed away at his residence in Foxworth, Mississippi at the age of 64. Marshall was born in Tylertown, Mississippi as one of seven children to Marshall Otis Byrd and Jimmie Lou Ginn Byrd. He was a longtime resident of Marion County and formerly served as the Marion County Tax Collector. Marshall was a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Debbie Byrd; and a niece, Sara Paige Knight. Marshall is survived by four sisters, Gwynn Byrd of Hattiesburg, Marion (Larry) Riley of Hattiesburg, Patricia (Lindsay) Carter of Hattiesburg, and Amanda (Floyd) Walker of Petal; two brothers, Richard Byrd of Poplarville and Robert (Joanne) Byrd of Pascagoula; 10 nieces and nephew and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews whom he dearly loved. There will be a visitation for Marshall from 9:00am until 10:30am on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend ML Wallace, will follow at 10:30pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
