Joe Glen Taylor, age 33 of Foxworth, MS passed away from this life Saturday, March 7, 2020. As a lifelong resident of Marion County, Joe loved the outdoors and especially loved spending time with his daughters, Kiley Taylor, and Emiley Taylor. He also had a place in his heart for animals and was often seen tending to his dog, building a pen for chickens, or feeding a litter of puppies.
Joe cherished the times spent with his brothers and always wanted the best for them even though “horns” would lock at times. He would say, “Well that’s what brothers do, but I love them just the same.” Everyone who knew Joe understood how much he loved his children. In conversation, no time would pass without him talking about them.
Joe was a graduate of West Marion High School and attended Victory Congregational Methodist Church was employed with various local contractors in Marion County including Rowell Roofing Company. He also worked with his stepfather installing floors thru out Forrest and Marion County.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Maudie Taylor, Ted Sherrill, and Maxine Hammonds; uncle, R.C. Taylor; and aunt, Ann Taylor. Along with his two daughters, survivors include his mother, Marilyn McWhorter (Mike); his father, Sammy Sherrill; four sisters, Shelby Sherrill, Michelle McWhorter, Lorri McWhorter, and Ashton McWhorter; six brothers, Damian McWhorter, Joel McWhorter, Waylon Lewis, Jesse Lewis, Tony Sherrill, and Jeffrey McWhorter; and a host of extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia and funeral services at 3:00pm on Friday, March 13, 2020 in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Max Campbell and Bishop Willard Powell will preside over services and interment will be at Victory CMC Cemetery assisted by Cory Graham, Timothy Woodward, Rusty Freeman, Johnny Sherrill, Joey Stogner, and Dusty Netherland serving as pallbearers.
