Katherine Dale McCown died Thursday May 19, 2011 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital, in Brandon, Ms. Visitation will be held at 10am on Monday May 23 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, Ms. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of the funeral home. She was born on October 10, 1916 to Sam B. & Allie Mae Dale. She lived most of her life in Columbia and moved to Brandon, Ms about 5 years ago to be near her daughter Sharon McCown Bruner. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and a life long member of First Baptist Church, Columbia. She was a retired registered nurse who served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband Foy McCown, her parents, and two brothers Lawrence Dale and Sam B. Dale, Jr. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Bruner, a grandson Jay Bruner and wife Claudia, three grandchildren, Katherine, Meghan, and Madison Bruner all of Brandon, a sister, Helen Dale Rochinski of Forest, Ms. and a number of nieces and nephews.
