Kathleen M. Coon, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the age of 75. She was born in Honduras to Reagan and Pauline Coon while her father was working for Chiquita Banana Company. Kathleen was a graduate Louisiana State University and lived in Miami, Florida for over thirty years while working for various airlines. She loved to travel and opportunities to see the world were made possible by her long career with airlines. She retired from Cayman Airways in 1989 and moved to Marion County to be close to family. Kathleen enjoyed playing Canasta and listening to music, especially Jimmy Buffet and Celine Dion. She loved animals and considered her pets to be her children. Kathleen was Catholic by faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her companion, Julio Plasencia; two sisters, Patricia Mason (James) and Irene Taylor; seven nieces and nephews, Jennifer Koepp-O’Quin (Kenny), Pat Koepp (Angela), Roy Koepp (Paula), Stefani Alexander Sanford, Donna Alexander Fortenberry (Jeremy), Donald “Monkey” Alexander, and Matthew Taylor (Christy); and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Kathleen, officiated by Father Tommy Conway, will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 11:00am and friends may visit with the family from 9:30 until service time. Burial will follow in Foxworth Cemetery assisted by Julio Plasencia, Roy Koepp, Donald “Monkey” Alexander, Matthew Taylor, Zack Koepp, Jacob Koepp, James Koepp, and Joshua Alexander serving as pallbearers. Pat Koepp will serve as honorary pallbearer.
