Kody Glenn Edwards, 31, of Columbia, MS, was born January 4, 1995, in Hattiesburg, MS, and passed away Friday, May 22, 2026. In a life that moved far too quickly, Kody left behind something that lasts: laughter, kindness, and a gentle way of making people feel like they belonged.
Kody attended East Marion High School, and wherever life took him afterward, his warm spirit seemed to lead the way. He had an easy, humorous charm that made ordinary moments feel like something worth remembering.
More than anything, Kody loved his family. He also loved the simple joys that brought people together: spending time with family and friends, sharing a good meal (and truly enjoying it—Kody loved to eat), and swapping stories that usually ended in laughter. His adventurous streak showed up in the way he welcomed new experiences, including listening to different styles of music, always open to whatever might become a new favorite.
Kody had a soft spot for dogs, especially pit bulls, and he also appreciated body art and had several tattoos that reflected milestones and memories in his life.
A member of Graves Creek Baptist Church, Kody lived with a kind-hearted openness that made it easy to see what mattered most to him: people. He loved meeting others and truly never met a stranger. That gift, paired with his gentle nature, is part of what made him so deeply cherished.
Kody was preceded in death by great-grandparents Elbert Brown and Lenita Brown, and Thomas E. Davis and Julia Davis.
He is survived by his mother, Hope Louge and Gabe Grubbs; his father, Johnny Edwards; sister, Skyler Edwards; brothers, Kyle Louge (Alexis) and Kole Louge; his grandparents,, Linda Ginn and Jimmy Ginn, and Anita Smith and Lloyd Smith; his aunt, Joan “Shorty” Alford; uncle and aunt, Neil Brown and Leisa Brown; uncles, Derick Ginn, and Eric Ginn; and his niece, Ivey Louge.
Visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11:00 am at the funeral home where friends may visit one prior to the service.
