Marshall Lewis Thornhill

Marshall Lewis Thornhill, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the age of 76. He was born in Marion County to Welton and Ruby Thornhill, was raised in Morgantown, and has remained a lifelong resident Marion County. Known for being a hard worker, Lewis owned his own logging business and worked in the logging industry for most of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He loved his cats and his chickens. Lewis was one of a kind and had a very unique way with words. He loved his family deeply and his family returned his love with great affection and admiration for being the best Daddy and Paw Paw one could ever hope for. Lewis will be remembered for his generous heart, always putting himself last, and for the great joy that he received from giving.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Thornhill, David Thornhill, and Bill Thornhill; a grandson, Marshall McLeod; and his beloved wife, Jo Ann Thornhill. Lewis is survived by a daughter, Twyla McLeod (David Sr.), a son, Marvin Thornhill (Cindy); a sister, Linda McKenzie; six grandchildren, David McLeod, Jr. (Niki), Marissa Lott (Josh), Colby Thornhill (Bethany), Abby Smith (Alex), Shonna Broome (Gary Ladner), and Anthony Broome (Bridget); ten great-grandchildren, Marshall Lott, Leslie Lott, Lynnlee Lott, Charlie Lott, Benson Smith, Bryce Ward, Layla Harrington, Jaylynn Harrington, Adi Broome and Alayna Broome; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation for Lewis at Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Willie Martin and Reverend Kerry Collins, will be in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Foxworth Cemetery assisted by Vance Thornhill, John McMichael, Lynn Thornhill, Hugh Gene Smith, Bobby Nichols, and Josh Lott serving as pallbearers.
