Nathan Z. Broom, age 71 of Columbia, MS, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 1, 2018. Nathan was born in Columbia and returned home after 30 years in Jackson County, MS working at Ingall’s Shipbuilding. He was a member of Gates Road Missionary Baptist Church. Nathan was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosie Bond and Wynonna Kilpatrick and a brother, Columbus “Ed” Broom. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Broom; two sons, Jerome Broom and his wife Nancy of Wilmington, NC and Rusty Broom of Columbia, MS; three sisters, Linda Patterson of Sumrall, MS, Mavis Robbins of Foxworth, MS and Ouida Anderson of Hattiesburg, MS; three brothers, Harvey Broom of Columbia, MS, Ray Broom and his wife Elaine of Grand Bay, AL and Terry Wayne Broom and his wife Katie of Helena, MS; and three grandchildren, Shane and Miranda Broom of Wilmington, NC and James Broom of Columbia, MS. There will be a visitation at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia on Monday, June 4, 2018, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. At 1:00pm Nathan will be taken in procession to Gates Road Cemetery for 1:30pm graveside service. Reverend Everette Broome will officiate the service.
