Perry Herbert Rea, age 70 of Long Beach, MS passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Quitman, MS. Perry was a loving family man with a kind heart. He embraced his role as a grandfather and was loved dearly by his grandsons. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Perry spent as much time as possible at his hunting camp in Quitman and over the years had developed deep friendships with his fellow hunters. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Rea and Dorothy Snell Rea; beloved father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. J.D. Ramey and Cleo Ramey.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Robin Ramey Rea; daughter, Karlie Rea of Mobile, AL; son, Daniel Rea (Sharra) of Long Beach, MS; grandsons, Caleb, Colton, and Levi of Long Beach; brother-in-law, Craig Ramey (Marion); sister-in-law, Carol Hunter (Greg); nieces, Barshae Bingham, Katherine Howell (Jason), and Corrie Stringer (Marty); nephews, Craig Ramey Jr., Mason Hunter, and Brice Hunter; six great-nieces; two great-nephews and two great-great-nephews.
A graveside service, officiated by Dr. Jim Porter, will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS assisted by Patrick Gaddy, Trey Gaddy, Shane Hicks, Lance Holly, Craig Ramey, Jr. and Mason Hunter serving as pallbearers. A reception will follow at the home of Craig Ramey, Sr., 32 East Baylis Chapel Church Rd, Columbia, Mississippi, with an invitation extended to all who wish to gather with the Rea family.
