Stephen D. Ballew, age 79 passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his residence in Columbia, MS. Stephen retired after working 35 years in the oil fields and served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Ballew was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Martin; parents, J.P. Ballew and Ruth Adams Ballew; and his sisters, Linda, and Cecilia. His memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Marie Ballew of Columbia; daughters, Pam Gressett of Jackson, MS, Suzette Schmitt (Randall) of Covington, LA and Jenifer Godeaux of Breaux Bridge, LA; sons, Rickey Ballew, David Ballew, Stephen M. Ballew, all of Columbia, and Doug Zuberbier of Lafayette, LA; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service, officiated by Reverend Brian Stewart will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at The Church on Main where family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00 PM until service time. Stephen will be laid to rest in a private committal ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be offered in Stephen’s memory to a charity of choice.
