
LEESVILLE - Bette Duncan Kimes, 83, joined her husband, parents and many friends in her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
She was born in Anderson, SC to the late Lenora and Hugh Duncan and grew up in Sanford, FL. She was a self-taught business owner and owned numerous businesses including Wheel In Antiques, Ritzy Rentals and The Gumdrop Tree. An avid Gamecock fan she enjoyed spending time with family and friends not needing an excuse to tailgate or party. The majority of Saturdays she could be found running the roads going to garage sales.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Kimes of the home, Lisa Kimes of Columbia, Betsy Kimes (Andy Crisp) of Columbia; three grandchildren, McKenzie Butler of Columbia, McCoy Butler of Tupelo, MS and Joseph Crisp of Columbia; her brother, Dale Duncan (Barbara) of FL; nieces, Debra Duncan of Lexington and Betty Bordeaux of NC, niece, Lindsay Duncan of Charleston, Aunt Mary Colson of North Charleston and her beloved pet, "special agent" Tator Tot. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oliver Gospel Mission, Paralyzed Vets, Easter Seals and Feed The Children. Bette was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Winter T. Kimes; her parents and a brother, Billy.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel.
