Betty Ann Taylor

A native of Columbia, Betty was born on February 26,1956 to the late Johnny and Celia James. Betty received her Master’s in education from University of South Carolina. She spent her career teaching and guiding countless children as a special education teacher. She taught at Fairfield Central High school and Kelly Miller middle school.

Betty embodied kindness, love, and generosity to everyone. She would often use her own resources to help her students and their families. She retired from teaching after 36 years. Her heart was open to everyone and she cared for others as if they were family. She will be remembered most for her loving smile and compassion for those in need.

She was a caring sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters Barbara James and Joann Baskett; brother Frank James; nieces and nephews Celia Smoot, Cecelia Baskett, Tom Harper and Anthony Harmon.

A private Celebration of Life service will be held by her family on June 20, 2022.
