Billie Jean Grooms Harmon

Lexington: A funeral service for Billie Jean “BJ” Harmon, 81, of Lexington, will be held Noon, Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Charles Stroud officiating. Interment will follow at Royal Pines Memorial Gardens in Winnsboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 o’clock. Memorials may be made to The American Red Cross, P.O. Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA, 50340-2018. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve McKelvey, Mike Bunch, Daryl McCombs, Amos Merck, Charlie Hutto, Jr., and Dale Hutto.

Mrs. Harmon died June 12, 2011. She was born on December 5, 1929, in Winnsboro, SC, a daughter of the late Bill Grooms and Fannie Viola Smith Grooms. BJ was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Edmond, SC, as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Jean Hutto and husband, Charles R. Hutto, Sr. of Summerton, SC; sons, Jerry W. Bunch and wife, Melissa, of Columbia, SC, and Emery C. Bunch, Jr. of Lexington, SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by her husband, Emery C. Bunch, Sr. and son, Eugene Legree “Bo” Bunch.
