Carol Graham

COLUMBIA - Carol Ghent Graham, 66, of Columbia, stepped peacefully into heaven on October 29, 2012 after a lengthy illness. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 6 P.M. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel, located at 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, S.C. 29212. Reverend Michael A. Ondera will lead the celebration. Carol was born on October 20, 1946 in Lancaster, South Carolina, the youngest child of the late Dr. Ira W. Ghent and Nell C. Ghent. She attended A.C. Flora High School before graduating from Berlin-American School in Berlin, Germany. Carol attended Winthrop University and the University of South Carolina to study mathematics and traveled the world as a flight attendant. She later worked part-time in her husband’s law office while being the most wonderful stay-at-home mom imaginable to her beloved son. Before she fell ill, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, soaking up the sun on Kiawah Island, reading all the latest books, watching movies, and playing with her three Great Danes. Carol was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, mother-in-law and friend. Beautiful, fun, feisty, and loving – she will be greatly missed. Surviving is her devoted husband of more than 40 years, Bothwell Frank Graham; son Bothwell Graham IV and his wife Elisabeth O. Graham of Columbia; sister Jean Kammer and her husband Buddy Kammer of Columbia; mother-in-law Eleanor Z. Graham of Columbia; sister-in-law Eleanor Jones and her husband Buddy Jones of Columbia; brothers-in-law Kenneth Graham of Columbia and Frank Graham of Columbia; niece Paula Moroney and her husband, Michael Moroney of Bettendorf, Iowa; nephews Chris Kammer of Columbia, Buddy Jones, Jr., of Columbia, and Kenneth Jones and his wife Sharon Jones of Lexington; and numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition, the family extends thanks to Carol’s wonderful friend Windy Thomas.
