COLUMBIA –Duane Vogel, Major, US Army, Retired 72, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014. A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Serenity Gardens.
Born in Moline, IL he was a son of the late Genevieve Blecker Vogel and Paul Vogel.
He proudly served his country in the US Army. His distinguished military career spanned many years and he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm (Unit), Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral (2), Expert (Rifle-M16A1) and 2nd Class (Hand Grenade).
