Earl E Griffith

COLUMBIA – A memorial service for Earl E. Griffith, 77, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffith was born April 4, 1935 in Logan, OH and passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013. He was a son of the late Lawrence Griffith and Gladys Campbell Griffith. Mr. Griffith served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years, where he served as a F4 pilot. Major Griffith served one tour in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart medal. He retired in Hampton, VA and lived there for 27 years where he owned and operated Hampton Roads Reality. Earl and his wife moved to South Carolina in 1998 to be near his grandchildren and worked at the Irmo Post Office.

Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Griffith; son, Garrett Griffith and wife, Rachel; daughter, Gynger Cunningham and husband, Chad; grandsons, Chandler Griffith, Nicholas Griffith, Carson Griffith, Emerson Griffith, Aidan Cunningham and Dylan Cunningham and sister, Ruth Clark.
