COLUMBIA - A memorial service for J W “Sonny” Arnold III, 64, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Temple Baptist Church, 806 Universal Drive, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Arnold was born on September 15, 1951, in Searcy, Arkansas, and passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. He was the son of J W Arnold, Jr. and the late Dorothy Arelene Coffey Arnold.
Mr. Arnold attended Dentsville High School. He was the general manager for Columbia Athletic Club for 25 years and then operated Sonny Arnold Pro Fitness until he retired. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, athlete, and enjoyed many friends.
Mr. Arnold is survived by his father; his son, Parker Clayton Arnold; stepson, Nathan Ginter; sisters, Sandy Nesbit (Ben), Phyllis Epting (Marc), and Susie Day; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother.
