Funeral services for Jerry Ronald Morgan, 70, of Columbia, will be 2:30 pm Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday evening at Greenlawn Funeral Home.
Jerry Ronald Morgan passed away on May 2, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 27, 1939 in Ft. McPhearson, GA to the late Robert Harley Morgan and Gladys Wilkerson Morgan. Jerry worked with Delta Airlines for 22 years both on the ramp and the ticket counter. After his retirement, Jerry began his own computer business and enjoyed working with his many loved clients. To Jerry, his clients were some of his best friends.
Jerry was loved by many and never met a stranger. Above all, Jerry was the best father in the entire world and most loved and respected grandfather anyone could ever ask for. Jerry was known for his handywork, whether it be building computers, building birdhouses with his grandchildren, working on the car, sewing or cooking for everyone. We spent every Christmas holiday at his house in which he cooked the entire delicious meal for a very large family. Jerry was a family man and loved his family more than anything.
He is survived by his sister Norma Louise Morgan of Columbia, South Carolina; his brother James Robert Morgan of Aynor, South Carolina; and his three children, Angela Denise Watts of Blythewood, Jerry Ronald Morgan Jr. of Lexington and Mona Jane Morgan of Orlando, Florida. He had 5 grandchildren who loved him dearly: Taryn Breanna Morgan, Ryan Taylor Morgan, Morgan Ashton Watts, Taylor Alexandria Watts and Sydney Nicole Watts. Jerry also had several nieces and nephews which he treated as his own children.
To the best daddy in the whole entire world, thank you for all you have done for us. You will be missed more than words can describe and we will continue your quest to find the perfect waffle!
