

COLUMBIA- Funeral services for John Paul “Jeep” Rogers, 91, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1416 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210. The burial will be at 2:00 p.m. for family in St. Andrews Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St Andrews Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
Jeep was born on March 22, 1920 in Mullins, SC and passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011. He was son of the late Bertha Turbeville Rogers and John Paul Rogers, Sr. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Edna Addy Rogers. Jeep was a longtime member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church. He will be remembered as the smiling, enthusiastic ambassador of the Y for most of his life. From the time he was a boy and participated in swim lessons, through his 59 years as an employee and throughout his retirement, Jeep continued to be a faithful servant to the Y. Jeep was past president and 52 year member of the Columbia Civitan Club. He was a lifetime member of the USC Gamecock Club.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his daughter, Joyce (David B.) Ellisor, grandchildren, Casey (Amy) Ellisor, Julie (Dennis) Harris, great-grandchildren, Lucy Ellisor, Elliott Harris and Edna Lee Harris, and brother Owen Rogers.
