Joyamma Varughese

Joyamma Varughese (nee Kurian), was born to K.T. Kurian and Chinnamma Kurian on March 1st, 1940 and was one of four siblings. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 9th, 2021.

Joyamma pursued and completed her nursing degree in Gujarat, India. She was married to K.O. Varughese for 54 years.

Her strong Christian faith was evident in her daily life. She was generous with her time and always willing to help others. A steward toward those less fortunate, she was always providing for others, both professionally as a registered nurse, and as a servant of God.

Joyamma is predeceased by her parents, three siblings, and son, Biju. She is survived by her husband Kovoor, daughter Beena, son-in-law Niall and grandchildren Pierce, Kayla Priya and Sean.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, 11020 Two Notch Rd, Elgin, SC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend gratitude to all who have called, prayed, and provided food and love during this difficult time. They also extend heartfelt appreciation to Pastor Hugh Ward and Pastor Sam Joseph for their support.
