Judy Lever Dry departed her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday, the eve of her 70th birthday. Judy was born on August 4, 1942, to David S. Lever, Sr. and Margarie Eleazer Lever. She was a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church. She was predeceased by her father, David S. Lever, Sr. and her brother, Richard "Dick" Lever, where she has now joined them.
Judy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. "Mama J" loved traveling, gardening, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren, especially at Christmas. During her 3 ½ year battle with breast cancer, she never lost her wonderful sense of humor. She never met a stranger, was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jim Dry; daughters, Tina D. Armour (Lewis) and Teri D. Gamble (Billy); grandchildren, Amber A. Giles (Justin), Ashley Armour, Mattie Gamble, Michael Gamble and Will Gamble; mother, Margarie Lever; brothers, David Lever, Jr. and Tim Lever (Val); sister-in-law, Norma Lever; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank their church family for their support, love and prayers. We would like to thank Dr. Steven Madden and staff, Dr. Quillin Davis and staff, 8th Floor Oncology and The Infusion Center at Lexington Medical Center for their care and treatment during the last 3 ½ years. Also, we would like to thank Agape Hospice for their care and support.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Ascension Lutheran Church where Jim and Judy exchanged their wedding vows over 51 years ago. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, August 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen, Attn: Donor Services, P. O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX, 75265-0309, or Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 400 Harbison Boulevard, Columbia, SC, 29212-1711.
In closing, we want to share Judy’s favorite scripture, John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
