Katherine Patricia (Patsy) Boney Farmer, 72, passed away April 25 after an unexpected illness. Born September 22, 1939, she was a native of Columbia and a devoted mother, daughter, sister and grandmother.
She was a graduate of Eau Claire High School and USC, and a lifelong member of Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, where she served in many leadership capacities. Patsy enjoyed her many years of service in the Junior League of Savannah, her time spent with the Lakeshore Ladies, and her Beckham Cousins monthly lunches and annual beach trips. Her passion for things of beauty led her to pursue careers and hobbies in interior decorating, floral arranging and music. But her greatest, most endearing love was for her children, and her greatest joys were being a mother, daughter and wife. Her children know that no one will appreciate the beauty of Heaven more than their Mother.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, John Guyton Farmer, Sr.; her parents, Ernest Leonard Boney and Kathryn Beckham Boney; her brother, Ernest Steven Boney; and her nephew, Steven Patrick Boney. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Sherrill Duren and husband, Tracy; sons, Henry Lunsford Duke, III and wife, Jamie; and Ernest Harrison Duke, all of Columbia; brother, Marc Leonard Boney and wife, Jane of Bartow, Florida; grandsons, Ernest Evans Duren and wife, Jamye; Taylor Jameson Duren and wife, Sally; Thomas Gordon Duren; John Spencer Duren; Harrison Brennan Duke; Jackson Gettings Duke; Nicholas Sandor Duke; great-grandsons, Clark Nathaniel Duren, Sullivan Patrick Duren, Arlo Jameson Duren, Curtis Wyatt Duren; niece, Kathryn Boney Previte and husband, James; nephew, Ernest Bryan Boney and wife, Tracey; great-nephews, Colton Patrick Boney, Ethan Cain Boney, John Marc Previte; her many devoted cousins; and her special friend, Bill Lee.
The memorial service for Mrs. Farmer will be held 2 o’clock Sunday, April 29th at Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, 629 Wildwood Avenue, Columbia. The family will greet friends following the service.
