Born in Byhalia, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Leonard Doherty and Mary Alberta Wurth Doherty. She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph’s High School. Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at the Midlands Center until she retired. She was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church. A talented artist, she loved hummingbirds and spending time with her family and grandkids.
Surviving are her son, Kevin T. Causey; daughters, Kathleen R. Alexander (Richard), Beth Ensing (Chris), Kara Habib (Eric) and Jennifer D. Williams; grandchildren, RJ Alexander, Chris Alexander (Katelin), Rachel Ensing, Kelsey Mason, Abigail Ensing, Emily Ensing, Logan Habib, Autumn Habib, Kayla M. Kinsey, Noah M. Kinsey, and Madison G. Williams; siblings, George Doherty (Jan), Rose Eubank, Rita Schepmoes (Jim); and sister-in-law, Carole Doherty.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David H. Causey, and her brother, Michael Doherty.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.
