Born in Lindale, Texas, she was the daughter of Ross Potter and Pearl Kindle Potter. A graduate of Lindale High School, she spent most of her life in East Texas and worked for many years at Fleming Apparel, where she was known for her warm smile.
Granny was a longtime member of Lindale First Baptist Church, where she spent many Sundays and was a devoted part of the church community. She also took great pride in serving as an election worker, contributing faithfully to her community for many years. She loved dancing and playing dominos, and she never missed a chance to enjoy both with friends and family.
In 2006, she moved to South Carolina to be near her daughters. Granny loved the holidays and spent much of her time cooking—often saying, “It’s probably not fit to eat,” despite being an excellent cook. She always insisted on having gifts for all the children. Even in her later years, she made her rounds at the mall, determined to find just the right one for each child.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Eulice Paul Smith (“Papa”) and A.C. “Red” Harvey; her brother, Jerry Ross Potter; and her parents, Ross Potter and Pearl Kindle Potter.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon F. Voyles (David) of Blythewood, SC, and Deborah Williams (Doug Weber) of The Villages, FL; grandchildren, Kindle Williams Brown, Dan Williams II, Jennifer Williams Dammeyer, Chad Voyles, and Angela Voyles; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2025, at Greenhaven Cemetery in Elgin, SC. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Susanne Atkinson AHLS, Homewatch Caregivers, and Heartsong Hospice for their compassionate care and support of Granny.
