Born on August 19, 1953, in Chester, SC, Phyllis was the beloved daughter of the late Carl and Sara Lou McCaston. She was a proud graduate of Great Falls High School, Winthrop University, and Francis Marion University. A lifelong educator, she retired from the Chester County School District after dedicating many years to teaching at Great Falls Middle School, where she left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues.
Phyllis was a devoted member of Great Falls Presbyterian Church, where she found community, faith, and fellowship. Her love for family was the cornerstone of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, James (Jim) Hamilton Bull; her daughter, Michelle Smith (Todd); her son, Jamie Simpson (Jada); and her stepdaughters, Jane Hudson (David) of Lancaster and Diane Alexander (Clint) of Rock Hill. Affectionately known as “Granna,” she cherished every moment with her grandchildren: Nathan (Jenny), Jacob, Abbie-Grace, Ayla, Meredith, Graham, and Madelyn. She was recently blessed with a great-grandchild, Finley, who brought her great joy. Phyllis is also survived by her sisters, Melinda Hunter (Joe) and Karen McCaston, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
