

Born in Blythewood on April 24, 1936, he was a son of Allie Richard Blume and Janie Mattox Blume. He proudly served in the US Army and was a lifetime member of Sandy Level Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher, deacon and choir member. Mr. Blume was a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service for more than 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara June Blume of the home; daughters, Beverly Eargle (John) of Mooresboro, NC, Robin Blume (Rick Ellis) of Blythewood, Kimberly Marlowe (Danny) of Warrensville, NC; grandchildren, Olin Eargle (Drew), Allison Baum (Brian), William Ellis, Oliver Ellis; great-grandson, Patrick Baum; sisters, Doris Stroman, Betty Lomas, Laura Goff (Preston), Frances Forrest; sister-in-law, Dorothy Blume; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blume was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Able; brothers, John W. Blume, James Blume, and Clyde Blume.
The funeral service for Mr. Blume will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Sandy Level Baptist Church, 408 Blythewood Road, with the Rev. Dr. E. Benjamin Newman, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Members of the Adult Men’s I Sunday School Class are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
