Robert Mcavaney

IRMO – Funeral services for Robert Christopher McAvaney, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church with interment in Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Mr. McAvaney was born on February 25, 1925 in Scranton, PA and passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011. He was a son of the late Christopher McAvaney and Kathryn Langan McAvaney. Mr. McAvaney was honorably retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of service as CPO and Tamper Industries.

Mr. McAvaney is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose McAvaney of Irmo, SC; daughters, Diane McAvaney of Columbia, SC and Denise McAvaney of Charlotte, NC.
