COLUMBIA – Robin Shealy McMillin, age 58, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 3, 1961 in Columbia, SC to Jack D. and Elizabeth C. Shealy. She grew up with a love of music, the arts and pageantry. Growing up in Lexington, SC she was a graduate of Lexington High School Class of ‘79. She went on to Winthrop College to receive her Bachelors of Art with a major in communications and minor in music. She was an active member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Fraternity, and Copy Editor of the Johnsonien Newspaper on campus.

Robin was crowned Miss Lexington 1983, and then went on to compete in the Miss South Carolina pageant later that summer. After college, she started her 35-year career at Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. She retired in 2016 to focus on managing her kidney disease.

When Robin was not working, she found joy in music which she shared a passion for with her husband, Don. Robin and Don were founding members of Living Springs Lutheran Church in Northeast Columbia, where Robin was the organist and choir director for many years. Robin and Don also loved cooking and traveling together, having left their hearts in San Francisco!

Robin also loved reading, shopping, and any excuse for a celebration, which she passed down to her daughters, Melissa and Rachel.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Donald Lane McMillin, Jr; daughters, Melissa Cofar (Jason) and Rachel Noyes (Daniel); brothers, Chris Shealy (Dana) and Scott Shealy (Robert); and the lights of her life, her four grandchildren, Willa and Max Cofar, Molly and Lucy Noyes.

Robin’s celebration of life will be Friday, November 15, 2019, at 10:30 am at Living Springs Lutheran Church, 4224 Hardscrabble Road, Columbia, SC 29229. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Polycistic Kidney Foundation at www.pkdcure.org.

Go in peace, Robin. Although we didn’t keep in touch over the years, I will never forget our times working together—your outrageous (good thing) personality & the humor you brought to endless meetings.
Deepest sympathy to Robin’s family.
Peace & Love
Jane

Wow such a beautiful and talented person. She will be missed. Such fond memories from church with her Laura and Larry, and at LHS in chorus and stage choir!! She could bang that piano. Prayers to the family, know she was loved. 🙏🏼💜💝

Robin and I were classmates at Lexington High School. Our birthdays were one day apart, mine on April 2nd and hers on April 3rd, so we had this bond through the years, always thinking of one another on our birthdays. It's so hard to believe that she is no longer with us, but the memory of her smile, piano, and sense of humor will always be a blessing. May she rest in peace.

I recall many good times with my friend, Robin. My heart hurts for the family as they work through this time. Best wishes for my ‘Jazz Singer’...I am happy she will not suffer any more🙏😇
