
COLUMBIA- A funeral service for Thomas J. McHale, 91, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church with inurnment to follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel.
Mr. McHale was born August 8, 1920 in Pittston, PA and passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. He was a son to the late Anthony and Margaret McHale. He worked for Con-Rail Railroad as Yardmaster for 33 years and for Syracuse Savings Bank for 10 years. He was a veteran of WWII in the 8th Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion and Holy Name Society St. Michael’s Church, both in Syracuse, NY. He loved to golf and he and his wife loved to travel. Mr. McHale loved his grandchildren and his great-grandson.
Mr. McHale is survived by his daughter Mary Theresa (Robert) Valliant; son, Thomas (Tammy) McHale; grandsons, Christopher (Lisa) Wisner, Gavin McHale; and great-grandson, Ryan Wisner. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth McHale; sisters, Evelyn McNevin, Blanche McHale, Anna Mulhern, and Helen Melvin; and brothers, John McHale and Joseph McHale.
