

Columbia: Virginia “Ginger” Bienert Webb, 62, of Columbia, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012. Born in Tuscaloosa, AL , she was the daughter to the late (Ret) Lt. Colonel Albert R and Virginia Batis Bienert. She and her family traveled extensively during her father’s military career. Ginger was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and formerly taught in the public schools of SC. Ginger also worked in real estate and was an interpreter and in contracts with a multi-national company. Her first love was working in the gift business as she did as a teenager in Alexandra, VA. She spent the last eight years in gift sales at Gibsons on Devine St. As one of the “Gibson Girls”, she renewed friendships from her university days and made new friends while doing what she loved most.
Survivors include her husband of forty years, Julian Kenneth “Ken” Webb; son, Julian Kenneth “Kent” Webb, Jr.; Brothers, George (Suzanne) Bienert of Peachtree City, GA, Michael Bienert of Pocatella, ID, Anthony Bienert of Victorville, CA; brother-in-laws, Clif (Donna) Webb of Aiken, Fred (Pam) Webb, of Aiken; aunt, Dorothy Varnado of Gilmore, TX; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, and in laws, Rev. Dr. J. Kenneth and Betty Webb of White Rock, SC.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas P. Keane and his surgical team at MUSC, SC Oncology Associates of Columbia, and the entire staff on the eight floor Ayvert of Palmetto Health Baptist and Palmetto Health Baptist Hospice. The family would also like to thank the extended Webb and Garren families along with the “Gibson Girls”.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 6 until 8 pm at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203. A celebration of Ginger’s life will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the family home in Saluda, NC. The family asks that memorials be made in Ginger’s honor to a charity of one’s choice.
