

CHAPIN – Our hero, Wayne Lee Kilpatrick, 79, passed away at his home in Chapin surrounded by his family on July 6, 2011. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with Ross Young officiating. Entombment will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Wayne’s best friend and buddy’s home, James Young, 7720 Irmo Drive, Columbia, South Carolina 29212. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 7791, Columbia, South Carolina 29202 or the Salvation Army, 2025 Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Mahaffey, Marion Frost. Larry Berry, Webb Thompson, Joe Owens, Phillip Fore, and Alton Bingenheimer.
Mr. Kilpatrick was born on February 12, 1932 in Candler, North Carolina to the late Oscar and Cora Mann and Theodore Kilpatrick. He was employed by Central Chevrolet for 35 years and was co-owner of Eagle’s Corner in Chapin.
Mr. Kilpatrick is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edith Kilpatrick of Chapin; children, Michael Kilpatrick, Sr. of Chapin, Pamela K. Caywood (Butch) of Blythewood, Rebecca L. Stallings (Dwight) of Columbia, Tami K. Lovett of Gilbert, and Kenneth Kilpatrick (Cindy) of Gilbert; grandchildren, Michael, II (Kathryn), Johnathan, Kathy, Kelly (Jesse), and Lauren; great grandchildren, Chase, McKenzie, Cameron, Connor, Nolan, and Kason; nieces and nephew, Patty Kilpatrick, Debbie Childs and Bill Kilpatrick (Sandy); sister-in-law, Joan Parnell; and brother-in-law, James Young of Irmo. He was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Cora Mann and Theodore Kilpatrick; daughter, Kathryn Kilpatrick; brother, Howard P. Kilpatrick; nephews, Steve Kilpatrick and Sam Kilpatrick; and cherished family friend Peggy Carelli
