William Gerald Ullery, Jr., 75, passed away on March 10, 2022. He was born on October 8, 1946 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to Jane “Beckie” Shealy Ullery and Lt. Col. William Gerald Ullery, Sr. During his childhood he moved with his family to many different places across the world including Japan, Hawaii and many different states within the United States. He spent his teen years in Columbia, SC and was a graduate of A. C. Flora High School and attended Clemson University, completing his Bachelor of Science in Business from Erskine College. He served in the United States Army on active duty from 1964-1966 and in the reserves from 1966-1968.
Mr. Ullery was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Jane Glaze Bell Ullery. Surviving are his two daughters, Shannon Elizabeth Bailes (Ron) and Robin Katherine Ullery (Eliana); two grandchildren, Joseph Furman Bailes and William Parker Bailes; brother, James “Jim” Rodney Ullery; nephew, Jason Ullery; niece, Joye Ullery; close friends, Roger and Dianne Hinson and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Boyce Chapel at First Baptist Church of Columbia, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201.
