
COLUMBIA – William Michael “Mike” Weaver died Monday, January 6, 2014 at his residence after a long illness. He was 48.
Born in Camden, NJ, the son of William C. “Mike” Weaver and the late Janet M. Weaver, Mike was raised in Haddonfield, NJ and Bridgeton, MO, and had been a resident of Columbia, SC since 1977.
Mike most recently was managing partner and business manager for Teen Forum, a nationally syndicated talk show heard in 23 markets that aired locally on WOIC-AM 1230. He enjoyed giving teens a platform to voice their opinions and concerns relating to life issues. He left Teen Forum in 2010 due to ill health.
Prior to Teen Forum, Mike was a sales representative with the Hancock Motors and Wray Automobile Groups. Mike was a graduate of Irmo High School, and attended The Citadel for four years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, an Eagle Scout, an avid car enthusiast, movie buff, and enjoyed working with teens. His many friends will remember him as a gifted storyteller with a great sense of humor. His father and stepmother, Donna Weaver of Yardley, PA, survive him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11 am at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia. Memorial contributions may be sent to Housing First Program, c/o CHA, 1917 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29204.
