Allie L. “Naomi” French died on January 30, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Renee Glenn Gilbert and John L. Gilbert, Jr. Naomi was raised during the Great Depression, a time during which most people were taught and learned the value of being grateful for what you had, and that priceless gift was your family. Naomi was the epitome of a true Southern Lady, and she will be forever remembered by those fortunate to have known her and her love for all. She made everyone feel important and loved. Naomi had a heart of gold; her generosity was beyond the great oceans of this earth.
Naomi was the wife of the late Charles E. French, and together they made Columbus their home. After his retirement from the United States Air Force, they went into the Real Estate business. She worked as a Realtor with Showcase Real Estate. Her love for people showed in everything she did, if it was for her community or her family, she was always there in a time of need. Naomi was a member of Wynn Brook Baptist Church. Her ministry to others was felt by those who were not able to come for worship at church, and she continued until she herself was not able.
Her most important position in life was as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Naomi’s family was her most valued and loved part of her life. She will be forever in the hearts of her family. Her loving memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Pamela F. Carson and her husband, Bob of Pawleys Island, SC; her son, Lloyd W. French and his better half, Kathy L. Roberts of West Point, GA; and her loving grandchildren: Jennifer Speegle, Kristina Norberry, MiChelle F. Cross, Brandi Zajac, Janice Donner, Heather Carson, Catherine Hof, and Heaven Odom.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Renee and John Gilbert; her husband, Charles E. French; and her son, Charles G. French.
